Students’ Perception Towards Peer Feedback in Writing Activities : A Case Study of EL-3 Class in LBPP LIA Depok
Abstract
Writing can be one of the most challenging activities for both teachers and students, either at schools
or English courses, especially during the low levels of learning. Confusion, reluctance or even
ignorance may depict students’ reaction when the teacher returns their writing assignments. What
might make them feel so? Does it have something to do with students’ involvement in the learning,
presumably in the correction process? Some studies suggest that engaging students in the proses of
assessment may bring benefits to students. Therefore, I am planning to conduct a research to find out
what students’ impressions are upon the impact of having peer feedback in their writing activities.
The feedback process will be conducted by having a virtual class, where students may have more
relaxed atmosphere since they can do it anywhere they like and being away from the pressure of the
class teacher and their own mates. Students will have to give comments on their friends’ work dealing
with the use of vocabulary taught, the compatibility of the grammar used and content of the writing
itself.
